How to install IPTV on Windows PC and Mac

A Windows PC or Mac can play IPTV through the IPTV Smarters Pro desktop app or the free VLC player with your M3U link. It is handy for a home office, a dorm room or a second screen during a game.

Before you start

  • Windows 10 or 11, or macOS 11 or newer
  • Your Best IPTV Canadian login (M3U link or Xtream Codes)
  • An internet connection of 15 Mbps or more

Your login email contains a server URL, a username and a password (Xtream Codes format) and an M3U link. Keep it handy. Do not have one yet? Request a free trial login.

Step-by-step: Windows PC and Mac

  1. Download IPTV Smarters Pro for desktop

    Get the Windows or Mac installer from the link in your login email and install it like any other program.

  2. Sign in

    Open the app, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, and enter the server URL, username and password from your email.

  3. Alternative: use VLC

    Install VLC from videolan.org. Open Media, then Open Network Stream, paste your M3U link and press Play. Use the Playlist view to browse channels.

  4. Watch

    Double-click a channel to play. Press F for full screen. Connect the laptop to a TV with HDMI for a bigger picture.

Tips and quick fixes

  • VLC has no TV guide; use IPTV Smarters Pro if you want EPG and catch-up.
  • On a Mac, allow the app in System Settings, Privacy and Security if macOS blocks the first launch.
  • MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store is a lightweight Windows option with an EPG.

Can I watch IPTV in a web browser?

Some channels play in a browser through the web player linked in your login email, but a desktop app such as IPTV Smarters Pro is more reliable and includes the TV guide.

Does a laptop count as a device?

Will IPTV slow down my work computer?

No. An HD stream uses about the same resources as a YouTube video. 4K needs a reasonably modern machine.
