Who broadcasts what in Canada
Rogers holds the national NHL rights in Canada through the 2025-26 season, with a new 12-year national deal beginning in 2026-27. In practice, the channel map for Canadian fans looks like this:
| Team | English regional | French | National games |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Maple Leafs | Sportsnet Ontario, TSN4 | RDS (select) | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Montreal Canadiens | TSN2 (English) | RDS, TVA Sports | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Ottawa Senators | TSN5 | RDS | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Winnipeg Jets | TSN3 | RDS (select) | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Edmonton Oilers | Sportsnet West | RDS (select) | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Calgary Flames | Sportsnet West | RDS (select) | CBC, Sportsnet |
| Vancouver Canucks | Sportsnet Pacific | RDS (select) | CBC, Sportsnet |
Regional games are normally blacked out outside the team region on cable and on streaming apps such as Sportsnet+. That is why an Oilers fan living in Toronto cannot simply subscribe to Sportsnet Ontario and see Edmonton games.
How IPTV solves the blackout problem
An IPTV guide carries every regional Sportsnet feed (Ontario, East, West, Pacific), all five TSN channels, CBC and the French networks as separate channels. Nothing is geo-fenced to your postal code. A Canucks fan in Halifax opens Sportsnet Pacific at 10 p.m. Atlantic and watches the same broadcast as viewers in Burnaby.
Catch-up TV matters just as much. Eastern games start at 4 p.m. Pacific and 8 p.m. Atlantic; catch-up lets you start the game when you get home and skip the intermissions.
Watching 4K hockey
Sportsnet and TSN produce select games in 4K, mostly Saturday national broadcasts and playoff games. Our guide carries the 4K feeds where the broadcaster provides them. To watch in 4K you need a 4K TV, a device that supports it (Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Apple TV 4K, Chromecast with Google TV 4K, Formuler Z11), and about 25 Mbps of bandwidth to the TV. Ethernet is strongly recommended for 4K sports; see our buffering guide.
Playoffs and special events
During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, every game is a national broadcast on Sportsnet, CBC or TSN, and in French on RDS or TVA Sports. The busiest games, such as a Canadian team in the Final, are exactly when backup streams earn their keep: our servers run duplicate feeds for the main sports channels so a spike in viewers does not affect your picture.
The same applies to the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Olympic tournament and the World Juniors, which TSN carries every December and January.
US broadcasts for the other 25 teams
Fans of US-based teams get the US national feeds (ESPN, TNT, ABC) and the regional sports networks in our guide too, so a Bruins or Red Wings fan in Canada is not limited to the Canadian schedule.
Setting up for hockey season

- Install TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro using our installation guide.
- Add Sportsnet, TSN, CBC and your French channels to Favourites so game night is one click away.
- Plug the TV in by Ethernet before the playoffs.

Questions about this topic
How can I watch NHL games in Canada without cable?
An IPTV subscription carries Sportsnet, Sportsnet regional feeds, TSN, CBC, RDS, TVA Sports and the US networks in one guide, so every Canadian team game is available live and in HD or 4K, with catch-up for games you miss.
Which channel shows Leafs games?
Most Toronto Maple Leafs regional games are on Sportsnet Ontario, with Saturday national games on CBC and Sportsnet and some games on TSN4. Every one of those channels is in the Best IPTV Canadian guide.
